The competition continues in Orlando, FL with Kristen Chenoweth as guest judge.
American Idol took a hot turn to sunny Orlando, Florida Wednesday for another night of auditions. Guest judge for the night was Kristen Chenoweth who has won an Emmy and a Tony award. So needless to say, she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to singing and television.
Theo Glinton was the first auditioner of the night and a colorful character. He had all types of glitter and such stuck to his face, including a feather. Theo also told them that he wants to be a fashion designer and own his own hair salon. Poor guy didn’t make it through but Ryan helped him pull the sequins off his face.
Seth Rollins had an inspirational story of wanting to sing and especially make the type of living that he could get all the help his son with autism needs. He had a good voice but was a little boring. Luckily for him, he got the golden ticket.
Jermaine Purifoy auditioned for American Idol during season 7 but wanted to give it another shot. He had some real talent and was Randy’s favorite of the whole audition tour. Simon thinks the “chicks” will like him.

Shelby Dressel has an under developed sub-cranial nerve so half of her face doesn’t really move. She had a beautiful voice but kind of screwed up in the end. The judges didn’t seem to care and let her through to Hollywood.
The most ridiculous yes of the night was Cornelius Edwards who split his pants when jumping into the splits. I’m so confused at why he got a golden ticket.
Jarrod Norrell seemed drunk for his performance. He reminded me of a stoned-out skateboarder from the 90s. Kara pretty much summed it up saying he sounded like “a lawnmower.” He eventually had to be carried out by security and was tackled and cuffed. I’m still confused about why he was handcuffed by a policeman.
Someone else who knows what handcuffs are all about was Matt Lawrence who robbed a bank at age 15 and spent 4 years in Juvenile Hall. He says he wants to make his family proud now instead of make them cry. Matt had a soulful voice and pretty good control of it. They judges liked him and put him through.
Next week we continue this journey in Los Angeles, CA.
